Meetup Goals : February 2014

the meetup banner 2013

Ah, February. The shortest month. Often the coldest month. But light is coming, along with Spring… and I can not wait. Despite the cold and dark, January moved at a nice pace for me and I got a lot done. Now I plan on cramming as much into February as possible as well.

My personal goals for January were to wear my FitBit more, record food, and to sort through and toss/donate clothes.

I did wear my FitBit, but I didn’t really pay attention to it like I should have and I certainly did not record food. I’ll try to be better. Really. I did, however, sort through my closet as we transferred to a new dresser. I got rid of a bunch of clothes that I will never wear, but there is probably more sorting I could do once Spring hits and I get the full cleaning bug.

fallenpeach goals for January were to get back on track with blogging, create a mission statement and re-organize my blog sidebar. Creating an editorial calendar helped me stay on track of blogging and last week I did a bit of re-organizing on the blog so two out of three ain’t bad.

Sammy & Friends goals – oh boy oh boy. I did create a little page on the blog for the kitten and his friends and Matt has been hard at work at a super special project involving them. But I neglected to make the new bookmark and that makes me a little sad. I wonder if it’s too late for a new winter bookmark in the shop?

Graphic Design ended up being a much bigger accomplishment this month than I thought it would be. I created the logo for an Etsy Team (Hartbeat, check it out here on our blog!) and absolutely love the results. AND! Not only did we come up with a name for our graphic design  company, but the logo is done and I’ve started preliminary work on a website. Way ahead of the game on that one and super excited to show it all off to you guys when it’s ready!

Other goals were to get my editorial calendar ready for February (done) and work more on my engagement calendar (which I’ve decided to abandon).

All in all, January wasn’t bad. I’m ahead on some things and behind on others, but I feel good about what I accomplished.

February Goals

  • Keep up with blogging
  • fallenpeach mission statement
  • focus on Etsy shop changes and updates
  • collect everything I need and make appointment for taxes
  • brainstorm and create new products for both fallenpeach and Sammy & Friends
  • begin to collect and organize graphic design portfolio and samples for new company

Keeping it short and sweet, just like February. There are a few things going on this month that will interfere so it’s best to focus on just a few goals this month.

How did your January go? Did you accomplish a lot? What do you have planned for February? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to see what projects you are working on!

Photo Friday: Brainstorming a Name

fallenpeach brainstorms a name for our graphic design company instagram

Happy Friday! This week we started brainstorming a new name, well an additional name, for ourselves. For our graphic design company that will be launching sometime this year. How I usually brainstorm is to write down all of the words I associate with the company I’m creating or just words I like. Then I start pairing things and going to an online thesaurus and seeing where it all leads me. Above you can see my brainstorming for this round. We may have a name, although I’m not sure it comes from any of the words above, amusingly enough. Still in the deciding phase, making sure it suits us and is clear and what we want before I start designing the logo.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Custom Save the Date Bookmarks, now Available in our Etsy Shop!

Custom Save the Date Bookmarks by fallenpeach on etsy

I am incredibly happy to announce that we are now offering Custom Save the Date bookmarks in our Etsy Shop. When Matt and I were planning our wedding, we made custom bookmarks to send as Save the Dates to our friends and family. I loved the idea so much, I decided to offer something similar in our Etsy shop. These bookmarks are totally customizable. I will put your names and wedding date in a font that suits your personalities, and you get to choose what goes on the back! It can be a photo or text, whatever you wish. Click the photo for more information, and feel free to email or convo me if you have any other questions!

Keeping the Momentum from Recent Brainstorms on our Road Trip

Badlands Black and White Photograph by fallenpeach

I don’t know about you, but every time I go on a road trip (or even just a hike or extended walk) my brain starts going a million miles a minute. I start plotting and planning all the things I’m going to do when I get home and thinking about all the projects that are in progress that I want to finish. Some of the plans are more elaborate than others.

Unavoidably, when we get home we get caught up in the day to day and our plans and schemes fall by the wayside. Some stick around long enough for me to add them to my to do list, but usually most of them fall apart and disappear. It makes me sad.

On our last road trip, where I took the above photograph in the Badlands, we schemed and plotted as per usual. We talked about wanting to own a teardrop trailer. Then we discovered you can work living campground to campground and talked about maybe someday getting and airstream and doing that. We discussed breaking our graphic design business off from fallenpeach and giving it it’s own identity. We talked about possible names and what our niche would be. We talked about building fallenpeach and finding more craft fairs to do in 2014. We talked about Sammy and Friends and how to build that up as well.

This time, I’m determined to keep these thoughts going. Some of them more immediately than others. We will be doing more craft fairs in 2014. I’ve already made an excel spreadsheet of fairs I’m interested in for preparation. We will be building fallenpeach as well as Sammy and Friends. AND my winter project WILL be to come up with a name, logo and branding for our graphic design business. I have plans, most of them are good plans, and I’m determined to keep working on them as hard as I can.

How do you keep your momentum from brainstorming when you are away from home?

Meetup: October 2013 Goals

the meetup banner 2013

Road Trips are wonderful things. They refresh us and they get us talking about goals and dreams; unfortunately,  it takes everything I have to hold on to those conversations once we return home. Let’s look at my goals from September:

Keep up with 30 Days of Lists – Kinda proud that I made it all the way through with only a couple stumpers 🙂

– Catch up on Project Life (I’m only …. 3 months behind…. )

– Begin to organize old photos and collect into new photo albums. Condense in some places, expand in others.

– focus on fallenpeach itself. ignore other divisions temporarily.

– edit photos of new bookmarks, begin listing.

– Plot and take next road trip  – I can not wait to share this trip with you guys, it was amazing.

That would be me, facing down the World’s Largest Buffalo! 🙂

September wasn’t really a failure, per se, I had a wonderful month and we had  an awesome vacation. But in terms of goals, I did not get a whole lot done. Keeping in mind my goal of priorities from September and my need to slow myself down a little, let’s see what is in store for October (oh my god it’s October!) :

Craft Fair Prep

– make / restock select items that sold out at the Oyster Festival

– research and sign up for at least two Holiday craft fairs

– make list of new products, photograph and edit photographs, then make schedule for releasing them into our etsy shop.

– officially catch up with Project Life (still a couple months behind)

– start plotting, planning and branding for separating our graphic design services from fallenpeach

– keep to budget this month, less if possible.

– continue getting Halloween costumes ready.

How was your September? Do you have big plans for October? Join in The Meetup and post your link in the comments!
